Baby Names ....

So we're pretty sure it's a girl ...  J & E seem to be stuck when it comes to names ... Any ideas of names?

What's your favorite girl name?
What kind of nicknames do you think it will inspire?
What's your least favorite name?  ( especially of the current favs )

Post your responses!!

promise we won't laugh ( much :D )

  1. Without a doubt the worst name would be Nevaeh (you also run a very high risk of ending up in the NICU with that name). Just had to get that out. I will post good names later.

  2. Here are my favorite names that I've heard on folks' lists lately.

    Sloan
    Genevieve
    Marjorie
    Audrey
    Olivia
    Ainsley

Or, as one of my girlfriends so kindly pointed out... If you're really struggling the name Abcde has made official baby name lists.

    You know you want to.

  4. Ok, first, I had never heard of a Navaeh and only after reading it twice did I get it. Tacky. Second, I just heard a pretty name on Dora the Explorer (can you tell my 2 year old is in the room?) It stood out in my mind because I used to have a ballet teacher by this name and always thought it was very pretty:

Annelise (also spelled Anneliese): It's a Danish name.

I don't know that nicknames will be a huge issue, as girls don't normally seem to get them, but I can understand wanting to cover your bases.

I tried to convince Elize to name her Erin, but she didn't seem to jump at it ;)

  5. Anneliese is my cousin's name :D It's very close to Elize's name. I can't remember if she spells it that way.

  6. For names to stay clear of unless you want her to be one of 28 girls with the same all through school, here were the Top 10 Girls Baby Names of 2010:

    1. Isabella
    2. Emma
    3. Olivia
    4. Sophia
    5. Ava
    6. Emily
    7. Madison
    8. Abigail
    9. Chloe
    10. Mia

Oooh just found another name for you to NOT name the kid: Meliffany. Who does that?! (Was browsing names that started with M-E-L ... obviously there are some real gems in there.)

  7. How about Ophelia? Shortened version Lia ?

I know EnJ have floated Hannah, Coraline and Madeline.

  8. I have to admit I'm a fan of destination names (they always have a story!). How about something Italian-esque for the time that Elize spent living there? My suggestion is Milana, and the kid can go by Mila for short. Or Lana. Other than the midwesterners totally flattening out every vowel, it would be a very pretty name.

  9. The baby will be born in June, right? How about June? Short, sweet, and won't get misspelled.

I also like Ada. (see above)
